Forskolin, capsicum, grapefruit and licorice in Payarmin
Five Payarmin blend lines are Coleus forskohlii (forskolin), capsicum, grapefruit extract, raspberry ketones and monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, a licorice compound. They sit at places 9, 10, 11, 13 and 18 of 22, so each weighs at most 22.2 mg per mL. The label prints no single amount, and none has a blood sugar trial here.

The five lines01
What are the five other herb and compound lines in Payarmin?
The five lines are Coleus forskohlii root extract, capsicum fruit extract, grapefruit fruit extract, raspberry ketones and monoammonium glycyrrhizinate.
They are spread between places 9 and 18 of the 22-line blend. The label lists the blend most to least by weight and prints only the 200 mg total (21 CFR 101.36 (eCFR)). Line k can weigh at most 200 divided by k. An even split would be 9.09 mg each.
| Line | Place | Most per mL | Studied figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coleus forskohlii | 9 | 22.2 mg | 500 mg a day of 10% forskolin extract |
| Capsicum | 10 | 20 mg | 2-4 mg capsaicin a day |
| Grapefruit extract | 11 | 18.2 mg | No studied dose found |
| Raspberry ketones | 13 | 15.4 mg | Only tested in combination products |
| Licorice compound | 18 | 11.1 mg | No studied dose found |
Forskolin02
What is forskolin, and does it belong in a blood sugar product?
Forskolin is the active compound in Coleus forskohlii root, and studies showing its safety and effectiveness are lacking (MSKCC, Forskolin (Coleus forskohlii)).
It is sold for weight. At 500 mg a day, three 12-week trials found no effect on body weight (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss). Payarmin's ceiling is 22.2 mg of extract, and the label gives no forskolin percentage.
The reported side effects are low blood pressure, slow heart rate and diarrhea. In lab studies it may add to blood-pressure medicines and raise bleeding risk with warfarin and other blood thinners (MSKCC, Forskolin (Coleus forskohlii)).
If you take a blood-pressure pill or a blood thinner, name this line when you ask your pharmacist.
Capsicum03
Does the capsicum in Payarmin matter?
Capsicum is chili pepper extract, and its effects on weight and appetite are small (MSKCC, Cayenne (Capsicum)).
Capsaicin at 2 to 4 mg a day did not change weight significantly over 12 weeks (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss). A possible effect on insulin and glucose rests on a single cited study (MSKCC, Cayenne (Capsicum)).
Side effects include stomach irritation and pain. It may raise the cough that comes with ACE-inhibitor blood-pressure drugs (MSKCC, Cayenne (Capsicum)).
At a 20 mg ceiling for the whole extract, the capsaicin inside is a small slice of that.
Grapefruit04
Can grapefruit extract in Payarmin interact with medicines?
Grapefruit juice blocks the CYP3A4 enzyme in the gut, so some drugs can build up to excessive levels (FDA, Grapefruit juice and drugs). Whether a grapefruit fruit extract does the same at 18.2 mg or less, we cannot say.
Affected drug types include some statins, blood-pressure drugs, transplant drugs, anti-anxiety drugs, corticosteroids, heart-rhythm drugs and antihistamines. Not every drug in these classes is affected (FDA, Grapefruit juice and drugs).
FDA's advice is to ask a doctor or pharmacist whether your medicine interacts with grapefruit. Take the bottle with you when you ask.
Do not stop or change a prescription because of a supplement. Ask first, then decide together.

See packsRaspberry ketones and licorice05
What about raspberry ketones and the licorice compound?
Raspberry ketones have no human evidence on their own, and monoammonium glycyrrhizinate is a licorice compound that can matter for people with blood pressure or heart conditions.
Most raspberry ketone research is in animals and cells. The only human studies used multi-ingredient products, so no benefit can be given to this line alone (OPSS (DoD), Raspberry Ketone). The studied supplement doses of 100 to 1,400 mg a day dwarf the 15.4 mg ceiling.
Glycyrrhizin, the compound in licorice, can cause irregular heartbeat and, with large or long-term use, serious heart effects. People with high blood pressure, heart or kidney conditions or high salt intake may be at risk even from small amounts (NCCIH, Licorice Root). The ceiling is 11.1 mg per mL, so it is small, but the warning is about people, not just milligrams.
- Large amounts of licorice in pregnancy are unsafe (NCCIH, Licorice Root).
- Interactions with corticosteroids have been reported (NCCIH, Licorice Root).

FAQ08
Forskolin, capsicum and the rest: common questions
How much forskolin is in Payarmin?
The label does not say. Coleus forskohlii is 9th of 22 lines, so the extract can weigh at most 22.2 mg per mL, and no forskolin percentage is printed. A weight trial used 500 mg a day of 10% extract (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss).
Does Payarmin contain grapefruit?
Yes, as Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) Fruit Extract, 11th of 22 lines, capped at 18.2 mg per mL. Grapefruit juice affects some medicines (FDA, Grapefruit juice and drugs). Ask a pharmacist whether yours is one of them.
Is the licorice compound in Payarmin the same as licorice candy?
No. The label lists monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, a licorice-derived compound, in 18th place at no more than 11.1 mg per mL. Glycyrrhizin can raise concern for people with high blood pressure or heart conditions (NCCIH, Licorice Root).
Do raspberry ketones in Payarmin help with weight?
No evidence shows that. Human studies used multi-ingredient products, so nothing can be credited to raspberry ketone alone (OPSS (DoD), Raspberry Ketone). Its Payarmin ceiling is 15.4 mg per mL.
Can capsicum in Payarmin upset my stomach?
It can in principle. Capsicum may cause stomach irritation and pain (MSKCC, Cayenne (Capsicum)). The capsaicin share of a 20 mg ceiling is small, but sensitive people should watch how they feel.
Does forskolin interact with blood thinners?
In lab studies it may raise bleeding risk with warfarin and other blood thinners, and may add to blood-pressure medicines (MSKCC, Forskolin (Coleus forskohlii)). Mention it to your pharmacist before using the drops.
