How to Compare Blood Sugar Supplements: 8 Label Checks

Quick answer

To compare blood sugar supplements, put each label side by side and check eight things: the facts panel, the dose of each ingredient, hidden blends, the studied amount, the claims, the cost per day, the seller terms and the medicine warnings. A supplement that fails the dose check is not made safer by a low price.

The method01

How do you compare blood sugar supplements?

Compare them on printed facts, not on promises. Eight checks cover it, and each one has a number you can write down.

Ads for these products tend to sound alike. Labels do not. Two bottles can share a front-of-box claim and differ ten times over in what is inside.

Keep one rule in mind. The American Diabetes Association finds no supplement proven to lower blood glucose (ADA, Vitamins & Supplements). So the goal of comparing is to see which label is most honest, not to find a winner for your numbers.

Checks 1 and 202

What should the Supplement Facts panel show?

It should show a serving size, a count of servings and an amount for every active ingredient. If an amount is missing, you cannot compare that line at all.

Payarmin passes the first test. It prints a 1 mL serving, 30 servings in a 30 mL bottle, and 22 blend ingredients in order of weight. It fails the second test for 22 of its 23 lines, because only chromium has an amount.

That is legal. A blend may list its total weight and no single amounts (21 CFR 101.36 (eCFR)). It still means you compare a total, not a dose.

Checks 3 and 403

How do you check a dose when the amounts are hidden?

Divide, then rank. An even split of 200 mg over 22 lines is about 9.09 mg each. The order of the list then gives the most any line could weigh.

Line k can hold at most 200 / k mg. Gymnema sits 8th, so 25 mg at the very most. Trials of gymnema used 200-400 mg of extract (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph). Even at its ceiling, the drops hold one eighth of the low end.

Chromium is the printed one. Trials ran up to 1,000 mcg a day (NIH ODS, Chromium). A serving has 0.7 mcg, which is 0.07% of that. At 2 droppers it is 1.4 mcg.

  • Chromium

    0.35% of 200 mcg
Printed, per 1 mL serving0.7 mcg
200-1,000 mcg a day in key glucose trials200-1,000 mcg

Printed on the label: 0.7 mcg per mL (2% DV). (NIH ODS, Chromium)

  • Gymnema

at most 12% of the low end
Even split, per 1 mL serving9.1 mg
1 mL serving, label-order ceiling (place 8)25 mg
    200-400 mg a day of extract200-400 mg

Not printed: #8 in a 200 mg blend of 22. (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph)

  • African mango

at most 17% of the low end
Even split, per 1 mL serving9.1 mg
1 mL serving, label-order ceiling (place 4)50 mg
    300 mg a day (150 mg twice)300 mg

Not printed: #4 in a 200 mg blend of 22. (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss)

  • Panax ginseng

at most 17% of the low end
Even split, per 1 mL serving9.1 mg
1 mL serving, label-order ceiling (place 12)17 mg
From about 100 mg a day of root (up to 20 g)100 mg

Not printed: #12 in a 200 mg blend of 22. (Shishtar et al., PLoS One 2014)

  • Green tea

at most 20% of the low end
Even split, per 1 mL serving9.1 mg
1 mL serving, label-order ceiling (place 7)29 mg
    141-1,207 mg catechins a day141-1,207 mg

Not printed: #7 in a 200 mg blend of 22. (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss)

Red bars: what one 1 mL serving can hold (double that at 2 droppers, if a dropper is 1 mL). The label prints only the chromium amount; for blend ingredients we show an even split (200 mg / 22, about 9.1 mg per mL) and the most the label order allows. Blue bars: daily amounts of that ingredient alone in studies; the light extension shows a range. Even the ceilings sit under the studied doses. An extract ratio, where a label prints one, describes how much plant went in, not how strong the extract is (Monagas et al., Front Pharmacol 2022).

Bars show label-order ceilings against studied amounts. The real weights are not published.

Check 504

How do you test the claims on a supplement ad?

Ask for the trial. A health claim should rest on human studies of the same product, dose and population, according to the FTC (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance).

Testimonials and lab or animal work alone are not enough. A disclaimer does not rescue a misleading line either.

Payarmin's sales page uses phrases such as "balanced blood sugar" and "clinically proven". It names no study of the product. FDA does not approve supplements before sale (FDA, Using Dietary Supplements), and it has warned sellers who pitched products as diabetes treatments (FDA, Illegally Sold Diabetes Treatments).

Red flags worth a second look

"Treatment" in the name of a program, a fixed-percentage customer claim with no source, and countdown or sell-out lines. None of them tells you what is in the bottle.

The full list of claims, each against its evidence, is on the legitimacy page.

Check 605

How do you compare blood sugar supplement prices fairly?

Price per day is the fair measure: bottle price divided by days of supply. A big pack with a low unit price can still cost more over a year than you intended to spend.

Payarmin has no 1-bottle pack. Each 30 mL bottle gives about 30 days at 1 dropper (assuming 1 mL) and about 15 days at 2 droppers.

Payarmin price per day, from the sales page checked October 19, 2026 (Payarmin sales page)
PackPer bottlePack totalPer day, 1 dropperPer day, 2 droppers
2 bottles$79$158 plus shipping$2.63$5.27
3 bottles$69$207$2.30$4.60
6 bottles$49$294$1.63$3.27

The math: $79 divided by 30 days is $2.63. At 2 droppers the same bottle lasts 15 days, so the cost doubles. Shipping on the 2-bottle pack is extra and shown at checkout. Use the same division on every product you weigh, and see the pricing page for the slider.

Checks 7 and 806

What seller terms and warnings should you compare?

Compare the refund window, who pays to send bottles back, and what the label says about medicines. These cost nothing to check and often decide a purchase.

Payarmin's sales page offers a 60-day results-or-refund guarantee, counted from the purchase date, with bottles accepted full or empty. The buyer pays return shipping. There is no subscription, per the sales page.

On warnings, the label has one general line: anyone with a known medical condition should consult a physician. It does not name insulin, give a caffeine amount or mention dogs, though guarana and green tea add caffeine and xylitol is dangerous to dogs (FDA, Paws Off Xylitol).

  • Ask each seller for the refund steps in writing.
  • Check who the manufacturer is. Payarmin's label names a distributor, not a maker.
  • A registered facility is not an approved one (FDA, Registration of Food Facilities guide).

Putting it together07

What should you do once the checks are done?

Score each product from 0 to 8, one point per check it passes, and then talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you buy.

A product with hidden doses will score low on checks 2, 3 and 4. That does not make it unsafe. It makes it hard to judge, which matters if you take medicine.

Keep taking your prescribed medicine

A score is not a reason to change a prescription. Diet, activity and your care team carry the strongest evidence (NIDDK, Diabetes Prevention Program). Payarmin is a dietary supplement and not a diabetes treatment.

FAQ08

Comparing blood sugar supplements: common questions

What is the first thing to check on a blood sugar supplement label?

Check the serving size and the number of servings, then look for an amount beside each ingredient. A bottle with a printed amount for every active line is easier to compare. Payarmin prints 1 mL servings, 30 per bottle, but only chromium has a stated amount.

Are proprietary blends bad?

Not by themselves. They are legal and only the total weight must be printed. The drawback is that you cannot tell if any one ingredient reaches the amount used in studies. In Payarmin's blend, 22 lines share 200 mg, an even split of about 9.09 mg each.

How can I tell if a supplement dose matches the research?

Find the studied amount, then compare it with the printed amount. Chromium trials used up to 1,000 mcg a day, and Payarmin lists 0.7 mcg. For hidden blends, use the label order to work out the ceiling, which only tells you the most a line could hold.

Does a higher price mean a better supplement?

No. Price does not show dose, purity or proof. Divide the pack price by days of supply, then compare label facts. Payarmin runs from $1.63 to $2.63 a day at 1 dropper depending on the pack, and none of that tells you the ingredient amounts.

Do customer reviews help when choosing a supplement?

Only a little. The FTC says fake reviews are hard to spot and can be negative as well as positive. Weigh the label and the seller's terms first. We publish no ratings or review quotes for Payarmin, because none have been verified.

Should I compare more than one product before buying?

Yes, if you can. Put two labels next to each other and run the eight checks on both. Then ask your pharmacist about interactions with your medicines, and keep taking your prescription while you decide.
