African Mango for Metabolism: What the Evidence and Label Show
African mango for metabolism rests on weak evidence: most studies are small and poorly designed. One 10-week trial used 150 mg before lunch and dinner, or 300 mg a day. In Payarmin, African mango is the 4th of 22 blend lines, so it weighs at most 50 mg per mL.

Does African mango help metabolism?
The evidence is weak. Memorial Sloan Kettering finds most studies small and poorly designed, with limited human data on blood sugar (MSKCC, Irvingia gabonensis (African mango)).
NIH reports one small 10-week trial at 150 mg before lunch and dinner (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss). NIH also calls the weight evidence for these ingredients limited.
Small trials also cannot show how any seed extract acts over years. We make no metabolism promise for the drops.
How much African mango is in Payarmin?
Not stated. The seed extract is 4th of 22, so the ceiling is 200 divided by 4, or 50 mg per mL.
| Measure | Per day |
|---|---|
| Payarmin ceiling, 1 dropper | 50 mg |
| Payarmin ceiling, 2 droppers | 100 mg |
| Trial dose (2 x 150 mg) | 300 mg |
| Even split of the blend | 9.09 mg per mL |
So the most one dropper can hold is one sixth of the trial amount.
What side effects come with African mango?
Reported ones are gas, headache and trouble sleeping. One case of kidney failure needing dialysis was also reported (MSKCC, Irvingia gabonensis (African mango)).
MSK lists diabetes medicines as a caution, since a glucose-lowering effect was shown in rats.
Never stop or change a prescription for a seed extract. Tell your doctor about kidney problems before you try any new supplement.

FAQ01
More about African mango
Is African mango the same as the mango fruit?
No. The label uses Irvingia gabonensis seed extract, from the bush mango tree, not the fruit sold in stores. The brand photo shows tan, cracked seeds. The label gives no extract ratio or amount.
Why does the label use African mango at all?
It is sold for weight and appetite, and Payarmin's sales page lists it among six named ingredients. The evidence is limited (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss), so treat it as a marketing choice, not proof of effect.
